Barium fluoride BaF2 crystal, rectangular in shape, 4.50cm x 2.39cm x 6.8mm ( volume is about 7 cc ) in size as shown in photos. The density from the measurements is 4.95 gm/cc (published number is 4.99 gm/cc), the difference of 0.8% is likely due to the small bevel on the edges of the crystal, and the precision of the size measurements. Polished crystal clear on all six faces.It was sitting on shelf for few years, originally purchased for construction of nuclear radiation scintillation detector for medical use. BaF2 scintillation light is fast (perhaps fastest among all inorganic scintillators). It is also used as optical window for many IR applications, and as a viewport.
