This sale is for a used GE Transistor Tester model 4JT1A1. It is a \"Static\" DC Transistor Tester that uses a special Eveready 6volt DC battery in its circuitry. This tester can test PNP and NPN transistors. And when you first plug in the transistor type into the tester\'s socket, the tester meter will immediately check the transistor\'s Junction Leakages (Iceo) on the meter\'s lower scale. And if the meter shows the transistor leakage reading to be low, then you could check the transistor\'s Beta Gain (hFE), by pushing the tester button and reading the tester meter\'s upper scale.This unit worked last time I used it back in 1975, so I assume it still works. It is sold AS-IS. Requires a 6 volt battery that isn\'t made anymore, but you can use a substitute battery to make it work. Has a few scrapes but over all this unit looks very good cosmetically. This unit is sold AS-IS. Made in USA like the good old days.

General Electric had also developed a Transistor Tester model 4JT1A1, for the consumer retail market in late 1955, which was used for radio technicians and hobbyists to test transistors that were also used in its all-transistor pocket radios. This GE Transistor Tester was also listed in the 1956 Lafayette Radio Electronics catalog.
