This X-ray developer functions, however it has some idiosyncrasies so I am listing it as parts.This is why you can pick it up for a fraction of what someone elsewill sell this sought after model for. The unit is located in Los Angeles.This machine functions fine to develop your x-rays, it justdoesn’t work as intended. You have 2 bigtanks on the floor that hold 5 gal ea. One is developer, one is fixer. Hoses go to these with pumps that bring upthe chemicals from the floor. One orboth pumps are not working. They makenoises like popcorn popping or something as you run the film thru. Once thefilm goes thru it no longer makes this noise.Since the chemicals do not come up from the floor into the smaller tanksup top, I manually pour a little into the tanks up top as needed. When the developer gets too dark, like darkiced tea, I drain out the top tank, rinse it, and replenish from the lowertank.
The temperature control needs to be adjusted on this unit asit runs hotter than it should, however, I found that this was not necessary formy development needs. This is how I getaround it: I give it 5 minutes to warmup. The temperature from 5 to 15 minutes is fine for developing. At about the 15 minute point you will need toshut it off for an hour or so to cool it back down if you wish to develop morex-rays today. I myself usually develop about 4 pieces of film once or twice perweek and this amount of time is more than adequate to do that.
It is rather dirty inside but was not dirty in the areas that matter as of the last time I used it in March.
