Vintage Allison Collet Chuck And Four ColletsFor your 9\" South Bend, Atlas, or other lathe with a 1-1/2\" 8 TPI spindle, this is a very nice vintage Allison collet chuck, which includes 4 collets--1/4, 5/16, 5/32, and 3/16. This collet chuck permits fast switching of workpieces fitted to the collet by turning lever on the chuck. In this way, workpieces may be inserted or removed from the collet with a simple turn of the lever, and this allows for fast production when work on multiple pieces is required.To use on your 9\" South Bend or equivalent lathe, you will have to fashion a simple bracket to fix the chuck to you lathe, but other than that this chuck is very nice working condition and ready to go.Four Allison collets in the sizes above are included with the chuck (these are unique to the Allison chuck), and additional collets turn up on e-Bay from time to time.
This is a sweet vintage chuck that\'s great for repetitive production and easy turning of standard round stock, and a fine addition to any home machinist shop.
