Nicely restored Fairmont QB railroad engine. These engineswere used on work cars known as Speeders, that carried work crews on the rails.A unique feature of these 6 HP 2 cycle throttle governed engines is that theywill run in either direction and can be reversed while running. This enabledworkers to go back to the shop at the end of the day without having to turn thecar around on the rails. As 2 cycle engines, it takes time for them to warm upand run smoothly (think of your weed eater!)
The engine is mounted on a custom all-oak cart with ironwheels and steering bar. It starts easy and runs well. The carburetor wascompletely rebuilt with new valves, valve seats, springs, float and mainneedles and seats. This alone is nearly a $100 parts expense.
It is fired by a new 12v buzz coil and a rechargeable 12vbattery (both included).
It has a nice brass fuel tank (not the original).
Please note that Fairmonts are LOUD engines, so if exhaustnoise is a factor, Fairmonts are not for you. If you are concerned about this,go to the youtube link below and listen.

I will mount the engine on a pallet and take it to Fastenalfor a $35 fee. Arrangements and payment with Fastenal are the buyer’sresponsibility. You are welcome to come by my farm in Northeast Tennessee topick it up. Inspection PRIOR to offerding is always welcome—come see it run, butthis is not an invitation to decide whether you want it or not after you havewon the offer.
