I have an 8310 and a couple days ago a straight face grey icon, like :l , with a 1 next to it appeared. Can anyone tell me what this means? Thanks!

Actually, that "face" is supposed to be a representation of an old fashioned cassette tape like you'd find in an answering machine. It does bear a resemblance to the Mac face though:
