I have a new Storm 2 which has many features I like. My biggest problem is my fat fingers. I am unable to hit a specific key in either portrait or landscape mode. As you would guess portrait is much more difficult. I tried to use a stylist like I did on my Palm or a pencil eraser, but neither was recognized. It only took my finger or nail.

Has anybody found a tool which works.

Have you tried using it in portrait mode and SureType enabled? There are special stylus for capacitive screens but they are expensive...

I tried using Suretype.. I REALLY did, after my friend swears by it. By day 10 I couldn't take it anymore. It was consistently getting things wrong and I was getting aggravated by having to go back and correct constantly.. especially when it changes the word after you get to end of long word. screw Suretype!

I saw a stylist for about $3 which said it worked with the Storm. I was talking to Blackberry support about another issue, asked about a stylist. I was told the screen was heat sensitive. I have 2 answers: one in this forum it is expensive and another heat sensitive. Anybody have a real answer.

bsich,

I am a the owner of big gorilla paws with fat fingers. Physical or Qwerty is a bear but you eventually get the hang of it. I had the Curve and then the Storm. Quite frankly the Curve was harder than the Storm to master.

For most touch screen operations I use my pinky unless typing and my wife always gets a laugh when she sees me texting because the Storm totally disappears in my hands.

Give it a little time. You might find yourself getting quite adepth at handling the Storm in landscape. Forget Portrait mode, unless you have lady hands you will never get it to work.

I have lady hands and I still have a hard time with it. I have long nails so it is very hard to type on this thing. I have found that since upgrading the OS it has become much more difficult for me to type on it.

Wow, it got easier for me when I moved to 5.0.0.328. I totally agree with you about the Portrait mode. That was totally a novelty being that my wife can't even get that to work well with her tiny fingers.

With you nails you are going to have a problem with just about any phone unless you are using a stylus.

Have you considered loosing the fancy nails?
