I'm now a free agent, and I've narrowed my choices down to either the iPhone or Storm2.

For those of you who had the same final choice, what were the factors that led you to get the Storm2? If there are any readers who actually got the iPhone, I'd also be interested in why you went that way.

It's really not fair to compare the 2...

Do you want a toy/something to play with or do you want a BlackBerry?

Comparing the iPhone with anything will most likely end up with the iPhone winning, unless you need the device for the email/communication capabilities it offers.

well if u want a great phone for work as it is in my case the storm is the phone u should go with.. but if u only looking for fun and gadgets and tons of apps the i-phone is the phone to go with. i have a 9530 and i love my phone but i use it for work, im buying an i-phone for personal use so ima test ride it and im gonna let u know how it goes.

I'm currently using the Curve 8330, and I've been happy with it. However, I don't need it for work, I'm a modest texter and I rarely send e-mail from my phone. I'm considering both the iPhone and Storm2 because the full screen for Internet browsing is very appealing. I really think the Storm is the nicer looking phone, but every time I touch the iPhone, it's hard to put it down.

I feel like I'm changing my mind every hour! There really are too many great phones just coming out, and on the immediate horizon (i.e. Bold 9700, Tour2). Very hard to make a decision!

I having been using the Storm1 for about 6 months. Recently, I bought both the iPhone 3Gs, and a Storm 2.

Now that the Storm 1 has Operating System Version 5, the Storm 2 is not much of an improvement. That is not to say the Storm 2 is bad. On the Contrary, it is a very nice phone. It just isn't that much better than the Storm 1 with the new Operating System. As a business phone, it is a wonderful phone. If you are using a Blackberry with a corporate BES server, you just can't beat it for email, Calendar, etc. And of course, the Verizon network is much better than AT&T, generally.

I liked the iPhone 3Gs quite a bit also. If you want to use lots of the applications available for iPhone, or you heavily use Web Browsing, the iPhone is the way to go. While the AT&T networks sucks in many ways, it really is faster than Verizon for web browsing... when you are getting good service. The 2 big problems I had with the iPhone were poor AT&T coverage in my office, and the fact that it really is designed for someone with eyes that are younger than mine. Most of the applications for the iPhone are displayed too small for me to see comfortably. I found that I had to "zoom" almost everything.

If you are an old corporate fart that depends on email, calendar, and the ability to easily see what the phone is displaying, then the Storm 2 is for you. If you are a 20-30-40-something that loves cool applications and the best non-email applications, then the iPhone is for you.

What about adding the droid to the conversation.

I actually played with both the Moto Droid and HTC Eris. Both were very impressive, and I actually liked the Eris better. Looks like a better choice than the Sprint Hero.

I used my daughter's iPhone 3Gs briefly when shopping for a new phone. Relative to the Storm 2, its phone call sound quality was not as good, and (living in the San Francisco Bay area) AT&T's network appears totally overwhelmed and has lost its responsiveness, Verizon coverage so far has been better (i was a long-time Cingular/ATT customer) and more responsive.

I got the Storm on VZW and my voice quality is great.. I can hear the difference from my previous 8330.

If you are comparing the two and are on the edge, get the iPhone.

I have found that those who place the two in competition simply have no appreciation for the connectivity of the Blackberry and its effectiveness as a business apparatus of inestimable value.

Although a touch screen device, the Storm is a Blackberry.

You want a toy, so get the iPhone and you will be quite pleased. MAC does toys and intuitive devices quite well. I strongly urge you to NOT get the Storm. I say this because if you are still on the Edge, you are a person who wants a toy. So get one.
