Dunno. Never tried 'em. Usually just say "I'm a gov't worker" and they use the gov't rate. Might try to change my reservation discount with one of them to get a lower rate now that I'm confirmed for the week.

No worries. LadyDi and her Penguin stayed in a different hotel last year. They didn't miss too much. We'll be sure to save you a seat at "the" table. (Details as to the secret location later!)

The cab ride comes to mind.

Darth, assuming all goes well, I'll at least have Monday for some House of Mouse touring (of course I could add some visits if I'm able to talk my way into some more tickets again).

Oh yeah, I'm down with the Mouseness for Monday with ya. We'll coordinate as it gets closer.

As for hotel/WES Registration/Flight.... all reserved!
Couldn't get into the hotel when I called yesterday for 5/12-5/15, but a few strongly worded phone calls to some people, and now I'm reserved form 5/10-5/17.
Registered for the Conference too. Disappointed there is not going to be any Domino BES Administrator Certification, but maybe it will be added at a later date and I can add it.
Thought my flight was going to be in the $250 range, but got a great one for $159 on the exact date/time I wanted.
The only way this can get any more perfect is if I win some kind of grand prize at one of the carrier parties. Oh wait... LOL

Still doing a shout out for anybody who wants to go to see Blue Man Group at Universal Studios on Sunday evening. I beleive Poncho Seats are still available.

Hi,

Can anyone explain the One day labs? Do you feel they are worth while and is both days needed? Also the access to the labs during the conference?

For the exchange admins - anyone signing up for the certification exam? Any further detail on what you will be quized on, length of exam and if it's just questions or interactive?

Hoping I get approval to attend this year!

I did the labs last year. It was good where you got to try a variety of different things using the workbook and then take the workbook back with you. I'm not doing it again this year though.

If they had Domino certification, I'd sign up regardless of the detail, length or style of questions. The opportunity to get a certification is too good to pass up.

I found the hands on lab beneficial because I was still runnig 4.0 and planning the migration to 4.1x. The lab gave me some "playtime" with 4.1 without having to setup anything at work or break production at work.

However, I do not plan on going to the lab this year. My organization has finally invested in VM so it's easier for me to test now.

Thanks for the feedback guys. So the labs will likely not have BES 4.1 SP5 or a beta of 5.0 installed? or are the machines you can config as needed??

Looks like I'll be at Doubletree unless I land a room at the host site but it looks booked along with the hilton!

Wouldnt count on 4.1.5 in the Labs. They are usually just a standard machine with Exchange/Domino/Groupwise and the BlackBerry Manager. No users, groups, software configs... anything. You can do what you want. When you get done, they prolly ghost the machine back to default for the next chimp that sits down.

They gave me the same run-around 24 hours after registration opened. I tried to get a room, but they were "booked up." A few strongly worded phone calls placed to some key individuals and 2 hours later, I'm registered at the host hotel beginning and ending exactly when I wanted. Plus being a Marriott Rewards member helped I think. "We're very sorry Mr. DarthBBerry. Yes, Mr. DarthBBerry. We'll get you a room right away, Mr. DarthBBerry."

Ah, the power of the Jedi Mind Trick. Works every time.

I got my approval today!!!

I was scheduled to come down last year (and actually made the flight and checked into my hotel) and then my wife got sick and had to fly home before it started :(

Hopefully this year will turn out a little better! I'd love to meet up with you guys down there - count me in!

After two years of trying, I've been approved to go as well. Hope to meet some of you there. I'm also signed up for Hand-On labs and pre-conf training Monday.

Hotel is totally sold out. Bad show. Looks like RIM has totally outgown that location (OK, they outgrew it years ago).

Too bad - I am not staying miles away and driving in and out. I will be missing my first WES.

Man, that was fast. I usually try to register as soon as I can. I have coworkers coming in from Switzerland and Spain for this, so I hope they got a room at the hotel too. Glad I got in.

Try calling in March/April. I'm betting people who didn't get approved to go will be cancelling their reservation then.

And that is not a very nice hotel.
The Renaissance supposedly has rooms. One small notch better than the Doubletree.
Guess the same guys who change routing on Monday are in charge of room management.

I just got my approval last week. I will be staying at the Renaissance, I plan on staying from the 11th to the 16th. I couldn't find any free transportation to/from the World Resort so I be renting.

This will be my 3rd WES and yeah it does look like the guest speakers are not that great this year.

Really though RIM needs to step up to Cisco's Live/Networkers event they had last year. They had KISS perform @ Cisco's event in Anaheim, Calif. Come on RIM. Maybe Boy Genius can make some calls here and get some real entertainment.

The most we can hope for is that the sponsors will host parties for us like they did last year. Yahoo had there own little party at WES 2007, and so did others aka Verizon and others.

Also, is the WES party still at Planet Hollywood this year?

I'm so jealous. They should hold the event in London next year, and get everybody over to the UK. You'd all fit in the Dome.

Oh, Gartner certainly has their opinions about RIM. Send my best to Ken Dulaney

One thing is for sure - Gartner will not be at WES.

Good Opinions, I would think as they rated Research in Motion at the top last year. I would expect Gartner to be at WES because they're not really a vendor to showcase anything.

This will be my first WES show... maybe this is the CES of Wireless??

I'd keep trying. It took me 3 attempts and I finally got a reservation at the Marriot and canceled my Hyatt reservation.

I had to choose between the Gartner event and WES. Hope I made the right choice. I'd love to hear what you think of the Gartner event and what they have to say.

Hi All,

This will be my first WES. Any of you registering for the BlackBerry Training for IT Administrators 1 & 2? Is the second day course worth attending?

... it all depends on how much you're involved in the BES process. If you don't have other training opportunities I would take advantage of it.

Check your PMs
