Change to "internet.com" and Save.

Now my wifi connection is fine even without a sim in the phone (which is locked to Orange by the way)... I hope this helps someone.

no unfortunately that's not the problem. The wifi *does* work for browsing, but not all services are able to use wifi, like email.

out of interest, I changed my APN to 'internet.com' and it made no difference. I was always able to connect to my home wifi, it's just limited by some setting at RIM/O2's end.

None of the above impacts on WiFi use, APN applies only to packet switched data via your mobile network.

Yes, we made a breakthrough today with one of the test configurations and it works!
From what I understand I have a BES service book for PROVISIONING
I haven't heard back yet from reporting that it does work so I don't know what the next step is but I'll let you all know as i know.

Hello I'm in the same situation, I cannot get connetion from Home (no data plan) but in my office using WLAN works.

can you share with service books you have??

and how I can test this SSL connection to the port 443? from my home?
I'm sure this is the reason Why I cannot connect, because checking on WIFI diagnostics is still seraching for my work BB router, not the \\rs.mx.blackberry.com

That's great! It is fixed. I refreshed my Service Books, did a full restart, and Hey Presto I get a full green tick for WiFi. Doing a diagnostic check cnfirmed that i was connected to Blackberry Infrastructure vis WiFi (using BIS).

I checked the Provisioning service book and it has changed to a BES version.

Unfortunately this hasn't made any difference to me, although it might be that I'm at work and to say that the wireless is flaky is a slight understatement.

I refreshed the service books, did a full restart and my provisioning book now says
UID: BESPRV-EU
but tbh I can't remember what it said before ;)
however after the restart, and I'd enabled wi-fi the icon was still the dreaded yellow minus symbol.

I will check at home later on and report back.

It's great that it's now working for so many of you, I'm interested to hear from anyone who has it working now, especially previous posters in this thread.
It can take about 10 mins after getting the new service book before the WiFi connects to Blackberry, you should be able to speed this up by using the WiFi to browse any web page.
I think the normal Service book says UID PRV URLs and it will probably return to say that after you get the BES one and the WiFi sorts itself out.
I'm still trying to find out what was done so i'll keep everyone posted on that.

Here's what happens with my home wifi (incidentally it's the same as my work one). I get a message about the certificate expiring, the options being:
continue - if i click this it doesn't make any difference to the wifi yellow stop sign

In the wifi diagnostics, it has found the network and assigned me an IP address, however under Blackberry Infrastructure the connecting symbol is yellow stop sign... uh damn thing.. whilst I was just typing this it prompted me about the expired certificate yet again, and when I clicked continue a second time everythings turned green. wifi diagostics all show green ticks under BB infrastructure, the wifi connections icon is green and the wifi icon on the front screen is black.

All in all - it would appear to be working. Browsing using the wifi seems a lot faster now the icon is black and not gray. Turning the mobile network off and sending an email using wifi also works

Nope, tried settings wipe java wipe and shouting at the bb but still only yellow connection... and still no mms. Iv given up with trying to get useful o2 people to resolve either of these for now. Maybe once opera is made wifi compat i may try again.

I have tried refreshing the service books and rebooting, no joy.

I been poking around the 'phone in the Manage Connections/Wi-Fi Options/Wi-Fi Diagnostics and note that under WI-FI there are entires in every section, Mac address etc, however:

under VPN(whatever that means) it says 'VPN profile is not found' and there are no entries in that section.

under Blackberry Infrastructure, there is a red cross against 'Connecting' and black dots against Authenticating router and Authenticating server.

Does this have anything to do with me always having the yellow symbol against my WI-fi and why it doesn't work?

VPN is virtual private network and is an optional thing that some people and/or companys setup to make it apear from the end point of view of the user that the device is connected directly to there network eventhough it may be elsewhere in the world.

The Blackberry infrastructure is whats causing the yellow, as for why could be all manner of reasons unfortunately. In your service books does the provisioning one have BESPRV-EU or PRV URLs. The bes is the desired one for proper wifi and I have noticed it gives different service books if you register whilst wifi is enabled or disabled. If this still doesnt work then im out of ideas as im still trying to get beyond this point with mine.

The Provisioining service book says BESPRV-EU and it is active. And of course because my WI-FI doesnt work, I could only register it with the wi-fi disabled.

Do I understand that I don't need VPN details for my wi-fi to work and that it should work on BIS?

I've been reading this thread with interest and have upgraded to v4.3.0.105. I have the BESPRV-EU service book for provisioning and have reset my Pearl by removing the battery and replacing it.

I still have grey Wi-fi.

qhat ip addresses do people have in there provisioning service book. just wondering if teres a difference between working and non working setups.

In the Provisioning Service Book my working setup has:

different ip and port range... hum... wonder if this is a regional thing or if theres different
