I know these settings were recommended by Linksys tech for their routers. Would these settings be equally recommended for other wireless routers? I have similar settings that I can change in my DLink DGL-4300 router but don't know if there were specific shortcomings of Linksys routers why these UMA settings were recommended.
Where's your sense of adventure? just try them and see if it breaks anything, it's not like you can't reset them back to the defaults if they're no good for you...
Haven't used a WRT54G in a while...has Linksys ditched fixed antennas for replaceable ones?
From my (now largely disremembered) CWNA course, changing antennas can increase range, might help w/battery life and keep the FCC from knocking at your door to confiscate your equipment if your neighbors complain about interference..
In the meantime, I'm off to try the recommended settings on my SMC router (with replaceable antennas).
Quick thanks to all those that take the time. Using a WRTG54 Ver 6 & would not have it working without the drops without all the advice. Changing channels seemed to make the biggest difference for me.
