Default UMA was working on D-link DI-624

Please Login to Remove!

Hi folks,

I have had my Curve 8320 for a few months and it noticed my wifi connection at home right away and connected. A few days ago my UMA started to bug out and my phone calls kept on getting dropped. The next day the Curve could not connect to my wireless router and it still hasn't. I upgraded my router's firmware, did a battery pull, reset my router and cable. I didn't tinker with the settings because it was working fine before, and do not know why it cannot even connect to my router at home. BTW I have a d-link di-624 version c router. Any help will be much appreciated.

Make sure you still have the certificates installed. Take it to a Starbucks and see if you can connect there. If it won't connect there either then it's an issue with your device. If it connects and works fine at Starbucks then you know it's your router/isp.

How long have you had the router?

Do a site survey and see how many other networks are in range. Make sure your network is on a different channel. Could be interference? There could be a new network that went online that is messing with your UMA clarity.

Does your PC/MAC keep a consistent connection to the internet?

This same thing happened to me when my last router started to go out. My PC kept a pretty good connection but my UMA started getting choppy. Within a week my PC couldn't connect either. In my case it turned out to be the slow death of my router. This might not be the case for you.

Default Just took it to starbucks

Hotspot connected right away and the phone switched to UMA right when I was walking into the local Starbucks. I'm not too knowledgeable about the configuration of my wireless router and it is possible there could be some interference but I did change the channel over to 3 from 11 and followed the configuration give on another post in this thread. I will have to try again when I get home from work. BTW my router is set on IP filtering not MAC filtering, and everything is pretty much disabled, don't have any WEP key encryption or anything else. My PC connects fine on LAN and Wireless so I'm not sure what's going on.

I just connected to my home router successfully and wifi symbol is in bold. Now the problem is the UMA has not shown up. I am pretty sure it is the router and I have phone set on wifi preferred and tried wifi only but still no luck with UMA. Any ideas on how to get my UMA working?

When was the last time you performed a battery pull on your 8320? If it's been a while, do so now. Make sure to leave the device powered on when you remove the battery for a few seconds then put the battery back in.

What about the router, when was the last time it was powercycled?

If your device still won't get to UMA check to find out what error code you are getting. On your 8320 go to Manage Connection, then select Wi-Fi Options, then push the Menu key and select Wi-Fi Diagnostics. Scroll down until you get to the UMA section and see if there is a W or J error code on the Error Code line.

When you initially set up for UMA did you set up an E911 address on your T-Mobile.com account? If not that could be causing issues for you. It's something to check out. But check to see what error code you are getting to start with.
