Arrow operamini charges - 02-19-2008, 05:50 AM

team, i need help today; i don't have an unlimited BB data plan since we don't have it here yet on this side of the planet (sorry); so i just wanna make sure, operamini usage is different from BIS usage right? like of course, if you're hooked on Wi-Fi, your emails, BB browser use, BBMessenger are pretty much like free as they won't go through the GSM/GPRS/EDGE network

im confused right now since i've read a couple of posts that have some of our folks around here claiming that they got their operamini working just over Wi-Fi (mobile network = off) etc [t'was our very own Mod NJB who got his operamini working on Wi-Fi]; i'm almost always on Wi-Fi so i want to make sure i can play with the numbers as efficiently as i could; so what's the real deal? TIA

YUP!!! The great thing about wifi. No data usage charges. You may surf the web with wifi as long as there is an open connection or you have a key to a network. Don't know how to configure it though because i chose gps over wifi. Hope it works out for you, but no, wifi usage is no cost....but check with your peers that also have wifi or contact your service provider and see what their policies are regarding wifi use.

No problem Mod JS, thanks and I hope I can get more feedback! I'm counting on the other BBF addicts especially from our very own 19K++ John Clark...

I just figured it out--OperaMini does not work on Wi-Fi (at least), it needs the mobile network; I tried several tests today with the mobile network turned off as the constant, then I tried it several times and it did not work; I am just confused with the other threads--I posted on one that had me claim it does work on Wi-Fi but I am taking that back http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...i-problem.html

But I could be wrong still--this is killing me

I never got it to work, either. Don't believe it's WiFi-capable. Probably has to do with JAVA
