Default quick question about wi-fi - 06-26-2008, 08:10 PM

i just got my curve today and i love how fast it is on wi-fi. now i read that it costs money to use it. how much a month does it cost? and what about the t-mobile internet i pay 5.99 a month for, does that make a difference?

thanks again guys =)

WiFi doesnt cost anything. you can use it without even a SIM card present.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 8320)

I don't believe the $5.99 t-zones is doing anything for you either when you have a Blackberry device. You should remove it and save that money.

Not so sure about that "doesnt cost anything".

I imagine it depends on whether you're using UMA. On my BB with wi-fi everything is tunnelled via the carrier - so I imagine they're measuring usage.

However I live in Canada so pay rather more than you would in the USA.

If you plan on making calls through UMA (Wi-fi) then you will need the 9.99/mo HotSpot@Home add-on, at which point your calls will be unlimited. Calls made over Wi-fi without that add-on will be subtracted from the amount of minutes you have through your voiceplan.

If you're just using it to surf the Internet, no charge as was already said!

If you use your BB on your home router, you can access data for free.
