Default HELP needed to unlock AT&T vendor id on 8820 - 07-03-2008, 05:26 AM

Someone please help me. I have an unlocked 8820 which I got when I was with AT&T. Now my carrier is T-mobile. I heard that I can make UMA calls if I remove AT&T's vendor ID and replace it with T-mobile's vendor ID with the hope of activating the UMA feature once the AT&T vendor ID is replaced by T-mobile's. I've read different posts and picked up bits and pieces of information. There was one post that said that there are specific instructions on how to do this in the FAQ, but I've searched and couldn't find it. From what I've read, I understand that I'll need some file called blackberry.axl for 8820. Anyone with the insight on how to do this PLEASE help me.

Thank you for all your help.

Wirelessly posted (off to see the wizard)

If I recall correctly the phone won't do uma at all

I may be wrong haven't had coffee yet. There are directions for vendor ID available

You can't change the Vendor ID.

Thank you all for replying.
Does that mean that there's no hope at all for my 8820 to use the UMA feature? I wonder if blackberry support can fix this problem (they charge $49 per incident).

no they cannot change it. Only engineering OS's (not allowed outside of RIM plants AT ALL) can change the UMA codes.
