I was wondering, will the 8120 pearl with wifi work on a rogers pay-as-you-go plan? Will I be able to sync my email and calendar on a microsoft exchange server with my blackberry when I'm in a wi-fi hotspot?

You will be able to use wifi to browse if you have a wifi browser icon. You will not get any exchange sync or push email since you won't have a BB data plan. For the wireless sync you need a BES/BPS installed and the BES plan from Rogers.
