Default Yellow Wifi Symbol (I Have got BIS data plan) - 08-20-2008, 03:19 AM

Hi Guys

Can you please help, I have an 8120 with Orange UK.

Whenever I connect to a wifi network I can browse the internet fine through the hotspot browser, but my wifi symbol always stays yellow. I believe this means only web data is coming through wifi and everything else is going through GPRS.

My colleague has an 8120 with Orange UK and on the wifi router he gets his symbol green. He also gets full UMA through this router.

I have tried wiping the heandset, upgarding the OS (im now on 4.5) but the problem persists.

Orange UK don't seem to have a clue how to help me. Can you guys?

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

Louis

Call Orange UK again and request to have your 8120 provisioned for WiFi. If they claim it is, tell them escalate to RIM to verify that.

Orange UK is known for forgetting to enable WiFi support on their blackberries.

Do you have a Blackberry Data Plan? You need that in order to get a green checkmark.

I will try calling Orange again today, fingers crossed hopefully they will sort it.

And as a reply to John, i definitely have the dataplan as my emails work through GPRS.

Sorry for the late response guys, I have been away at wedding all bank holiday weekend.

I called Orange, They were useless and did not know what I was talking about.

I long so much for the green wifi symbol.

Sorry to hear it, but this can only be resolved between you and Orange UK.
