Default Wifi problem on an 8120-please help - 08-29-2008, 04:42 AM

Hi folks,
I'm new here but I promise to have a good look around when I can.
In the meantime I have an urgent problem that I need help with fast.

I just got my 8120 yesterday and the wifi was working perfectly.
However now it won't connect to web pages at all.
Instead of the green "correct" tick it has a yellow circle with a line through in the set up menu for wifi (the one that lists mobile connections, bluetooth etc)? What caused that?
I can scroll down and turn it on but it stays with the yellow circle on the right.

I'm unfamiliar with blackberry as of yet and may have been playing with it and unbeknownst to myself affected a setting somewhere.

Could someone assist-thank you

I was onto a very helpfull Vodafone Ireland tech person.
They said my sim was not data connection enabled so they switched that part on and suggested I take out the battery and restart and try again.

Low and behold-green light is back.

Sucess and I'm browsing on Wifi again \o/

So it seems for whatever bizzare reason, you do actually need to be connected for data on this phone but not on an actual data plan.

All I wanted was the Wifi-I've no intention of using or incurring charges with GPRS for the web.
