Exclamation E-Mail stopped ariving. Odd reasons. BBFAQ not helping. - 09-05-2008, 08:54 PM

Hello,

Let me first introduce you to the situation:

1. I have BB 8120, unlocked.
2. I have T-Mobile SIM card, FlexPay
3. I have WiFi access, and it is not HotSpot@Home
4. I do NOT have Data Plan

The browser is working perfectly, so is Opera Mini when selected "Use WiFi". Push e-mail, GMail and other applications that don't use WiFi don't work. I googled, and saw that I need to call customer service to enable Blackberry Feature Enabler, which they did. Instantly, the e-mail started arriving. All applications worked flawlessly. It was 1 AM.

When I woke up in the morning, it stopped working. It is as if someone has actually _disabled_ Blackberry Feature Enabler on my account. Note that Browser and Opera Mini still work perfectly normal (of course, when in WiFi range)

Might be important: before the call, I had lowercase edge on my screen. After the call, I now have uppercase EDGE. Even now, when it is not working, I have uppercase EDGE. Not sure what exactly it means.

Note that I went through all steps on BlackBerryFAQ.com on topic "My e-mail stopped arriving".

What seems to be the problem?

Thank you so much.

Feature enabler does NOT give you push email. If it did it was just a fluke and that's why it didn't work in the morning. You have upper case EDGE just due to the feature enabler. You may be able to pin message to other BB's but you will NOT get push email.

So, let me see if I understand (I'm sorry, this is my first BlackBerry):

1. I need to have data plan in order to get push mail to work
2. What do I get by that BlackBerry Feature Enabler anyway?

1. Yes, you need the Blackberry email plan or the full data plan.
2. The feature enabler gives you the service books for MMS, and Instant Messaging. In some cases this will give you pin messaging so that BBMessenger works but there have been varying opinions and results on this.
