Exclamation Problems connecting to internet BB 8220 - 09-26-2009, 10:45 PM

I have had my BB 8220 for a couple of months now through Tmobile and I have not had any luck connecting to the internet over Wifi. Each time I try to connect it either times out or tells me that I need to sign up for a paid data plan. I have asked the people where I bought the phone and they have no idea. So here is what I have tried so far. I have gone into advanced options, browser, and change the settings to hotspot browser and it does the same thing. I even tried it on the regular browser and the WAP browser but no difference. I even tried on my home wifi which is a linksys-G and it still tells me to sign up for a web-2-go program. I don't need to use the internet much but when I do it sucks to get nothing up an upsell from Tmobile.
Any thoughts?

Somewhere I rememeber reading that you need a bb plan for Wifi access, but can't recall. I did find this though and maybe it will help.

Wirelessly posted (Tmo's cheapest BB customer)

Did you select the correct browser? Be sure to select the hotspot instead of the tzones/web2go.

Options>advanced>browser
