Go into Manage Connections - Mobile Network Options. Ensure Data Services is turned on.

mine goes to lowercase UMA throughout the day. I have found that even with GSM/EDGE radio off and uma being in lowercase, I can still make/take calls and get data over the wifi connection. What exactly is the difference between lowercase and uppercase?

Honestly? All my problems cleared up today - the date of the official release. I was seeing some problems on both Saturday and Sunday - all of which have disappeared today.

When I called TMO on both Saturday and Sunday, the response was the same: "Oh? You have the Curve already"?

I was seeing lowercase UMA on Saturday and Sunday. Today, uppercase UMA.

All is well now!

As in, turned off all connections, pulled the battery, rebooted and turned on all connections?

Mine just went to lowercase uma about 10 minutes ago, from being on UMA for about 1 1/2 hrs.

Did you lose your manual?

"UMA = You can use the phone, send and receive email messages, PIN messages, SMS text messages, and MMS messages, and use the browswer using UMA instead of a mobile network connection.

Aw, c'mon. Who reads manuals?

That's sensible. It's the same as the difference between "edge" and "EDGE".

For the last hour or so I've had "uma" or "edge". Battery pull fixed it but I still can't make UMA calls reliably. That's for another thread I guess.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I have had lowercase uma the last couple nights and can still do everything. In fact, its lowercase now as I send this message.

I've had lowercase uma since last night. Verified this on several UMA devices today. Not sure what's up. T-Mobile network issue?

I was told by BB tmo support today that t-zones is not available on this handset alone and that I had to get the BB internet for $19.99. Before this it work Friday (when I bought it) thru the weekend. He also mentioned that when the system picks up that it is a BB/Data phone it automatically cancels the t-zone only feature. Has anyone seen anything different to this "rule"?

Also after this upgrade of having to purchase the internet plan, the uma changed to UMA and seems to work a bit better on the voice calls when on UMA.

Same problem here. I did a selective restore that exclude Trusted Key Restore and Handheld Key Restore and got uma now. I don't have BIS add on yet so I don't know if that's the reason why I don't have UMA. I will test at other network tomorrow to see if I can pick up UMA.
