Default Wifi in use for data, but not for voice - 10-14-2007, 02:14 PM

I am at home and my 8320 seems to be preferring "mobile Network" for voice services even though I have told it to prefer WIFI.

If I switch to "WIFI-only" under Mobile Network Options, then I can get the phone to use UMA. As soon as I go back to "WIFI Preferred" it will switch back to to using mobile netwok for voice (EDGE).

In all cases my phone is happy to use WIFI for data services. (Both Internet and BES show WIFI under status)

The router is the tmob linksys, and I believe I have it configured correctly. The frustration is that the BB seems to be disregarding my preference for voice over wifi. [I am only getting two bars on the mobile net strength indicator, so it's not the case that my mobile network signal is really strong and my wifi signal is really weak. I get better voice quality over WIFI]

I do not want to leave the BB set to "WIFI only" because I know i will leave the house and forget to switch it back, and then I will miss calls...

Thanks for any suggestions.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Thanks for the reply. Channel has always been 11. I still think the wifi signal is stronger than the gsm, but not sure how to get the bb to agree with me.
