I will do that as soon as I can find a PC. We run Mac and can not upgrade as all files are .exe.....or is there a way to do it on a Mac? (BTW, I have tried with BB Desktop but it tells me I have the latest OS 7.0.0 Bundle 1672 (v 7.0.0.353)

My phone is eating up about 1.3% per minute usage rate on the battery while surfing Web this is about 2.5 times more aggressive than my 9700.

9900 also uses 20% in a 7 hrs period during idle (during my sleep) vs 7% usage on the 9700.

I'm on OS .353 that came with the phone. Anyone else upgraded to the latest .503 yet and has noticed battery life improvement??

do you know how to do this? i searched the userguide and found no relevant instructions. i'm using a semi-hard pearl case for my 9900 that one of out IT guys gave me because (1) it works, and (2) it doesn't launch multiple pocket calls like the much softer (and pretty expensive) holster i regret having purchased specifically for my 9900.

i am not sure if the pearl holster i'm using has any magnet in it (seems doubtful). i like the idea of putting my 9900 to sleep when i holster it but i'm just not sure how

You don't have to do anything. The holster has a magnet in it (in the flap) that automatically puts the phone into sleep mode when it's holstered. Will definitely help with battery life. I use it all the time on my 9700.

thanks. ok i'll go back to the original 9900 i bought with and for the 9900. it does have a magnet and the 9900's display goes black with the holster closes around it. i guess i'll make a habit to use the top button to avoid pocket dialing issue. thx

This is not the first time I heard this. I know frequent BB users often have this problem. I always had this complaint about laptop batteries too. Why don't they last longer? I would think they would. But 8 to 10 hours is more than even some people get. Some people only get six.

Oh..and wow! Someone said 38 hrs? I see it is set on med/low use though? I am curious what it your batter life was with higher usage.

Could you tell me what holster you got for your 9900? I don't see as though RIM has one specifically for that phone. Thanks!

i am not recommending it, but i "think" this may be what they sold me at the at&t store for about $35 (as i look at it, i don't see any RIM branding)

ps, i saw this one on half off sale and just now ordered a couple online. should receive before end of this month. will look forward to giving it a try. one weird thing. in a video with first review, the guy inserted the 9900 in the holster with keyboard facing outboard, rather than inboard. seems backwars from what i've always been used to. may be hard for me to get used to changing if that's really necessary with this 9900 holster

Mine went from excellent to killing batteries. I went through and closed all the GPS programs. I must have left one running in the background. Now back to normal.

8-10hrs is "normal" or "good"? You have got to be kidding me. My 8800 can go for about 3 days from a full charge and I'm still using the original 4 year-old battery. Also, keeping your BB plugged in non-stop is a sure-fire way to destroy the battery. LiIon batteries do not like to be at full charge, it damages them.

Also, the magnet is in the bottom of the case and the switch is near the bottom of the phone. Take the magnet on the flap of your holster and run it by the bottom of your phone, front or back, and it will go to sleep.

Use Options>Device>Application Management and swipe to the CPU panel. There you can find out if any apps are using a lot of CPU time, including apps that you may not even have running. I've discovered that Pandora uses about 35s a day of CPU even when I don't open or run it. I have no idea why, but it's not the only one that does that.

The worst offender was EveryLock, which was killing the battery more than anything else, even though I never used it. The Usage screen confirmed "Never used" but it was using CPU time like crazy, and killing the battery.

The wallpaper theory is bogus. Your wallpaper image is resized once, then stored. You can delete the original and your wallpaper won't go away. The only way the resizing could become an issue is if you use a wallpaper changing program.
