That is not the case. Not sure where you get your information. The stores in Atlanta are not in liquidation at all. They are just closing. Employees are still there and working as normal. If you know of a specific store that is doing that, state that, but lets try not to make blanket statements we don't have solid facts on; as in this case.

A distirct manager in NY told me about this and that is the reason that all is a final sale. So if they show it as final sale (which one would have to depend on warantee for issues and can not retrun to any store for exchange). In NY they will only have 2 stores open and those are in NYC. Current employees were told they have a job there for the next 3 months and then that is it after that.

They closed one store in Phoenix last October, and the process appears to be the same. Now they are closing all the stores in Arizona, save a single Tucson store. Basically, they no longer honor any sales price (web/circular/etc). They mark stuff down as they go - currently everything* in the AZ stores is 20-30% off of their normal, non-sale price. I was looking at their 2GB micro SD - they ran an ad that said they were on sale for $49... but the list price was something like $89 with 10% off of that - all sales final.

As usual, the everything* excludes a lot of stuff - computers, iPods, memory (10%).

It's a wonder they stayed around this long. I got in an argument with one of their arrogant "sales clerks" about how online IS ALWAYS cheaper than the brick and mortar store... anyway I put "sales clerks" in quotes because during this closeout/clearance, you can't get anyone to help you - they just walk around talking to each other.

BTW, I did pick up a BB 8700 for one of my daughters for $150 (and a Moto SLVR L7 for $125) w/o contracts at the store that closed in October...

So, keep an eye out, but watch them like a hawk.

anyone know if the 8800 meets the sdhc standard? the 4gb microsd cards are just around the corner from sandisk and i think one other company.

murphzlaw1 03-23-2007 06:46 PM

just purchased 2 1GB micro SD cards, with 2 day shipping, from Amazon for $32.

I would have bought one more and qualified for the free shipping (for roughly the same price) but that takes 5 to 9 days, and I'm an impatient bastard.

:)

Cheapest I found was around $3

If price outshines manufacturer (sorry Im cheap) then $3 is a helluva price for a SD card

1 GB Micro SD bought today for $20 with 17 dollar rebate:
search on slickdeals.net or spoofee.com they always have saweet deals!

it's no longer $24.99 right? because for me it's $40 something.

Coach Lon 03-28-2007 11:02 PM

That's incredible that the price jumped above $40 for the 2G! I bought my 2G Sandisk Micro SD from buy.com, and had to wait over a week for it after asking them where my order was. It showed out of stock at the warehouse after I placed my order, but when I wrote customer service for an explanation, they quickly replied with a apology, and sent it to me Fedex. I paid about $21 complete using Google Checkout.

Some UK deals

No-one from the UK seems to be posting here, so here's a few I found (sorry, but the *very* lame pre-10 posts filter means I can't hyperlink them - prefix the play.com URLs below with "www" and a "."):

1GB:
play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/3250138/1GB_Micro_SD_Card_From_Play_com/Product.html
Branded "play.com" and out of stock, but 7.99 pounds with free worldwide postage.
amazon.co.uk/ByteStor-1GB-Micro-Card-Adaptor/dp/B000ML0OUI/
Bytestor for 7.84 pounds, but you'll need to bundle it with something else to reach 15 pounds for free postage.

2GB:
play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/3251313/Sandisk_2GB_Micro_SD_Card/Product.html
SanDisk for 17.99 pounds with free postage.

Although I've seen some 1GB microSD cards hovering around 5 pounds on Amazon UK, they're from Marketplace resellers, who charge 4-5 pounds postage (which is ridiculous for such a tiny item). It's the same at sites like svp.co.uk (Kingston 1GB for under 8 pounds, but something like 4 pounds postage).
