They've added a lot of that content, if not all of it, to the Resource Center, which is available for the public.

That is why I was asking, I see that it is going to be available, but what I was asking is if you would be able to use it on a private internal network. the windows messager service at my company does not allow you to talk to someone outside of the company. I wanted to know if I would be able to communicate with people within my company from my blackberry.

jibi 08-31-2005 08:23 AM

i'm guessing this is more for Exchange 2000 users, since it has the built-in messenger functionality that was removed with Exchange 2003. that is, unless you are able to enable Windows Messenger for corporate-only, which i'm sure can be done, although we don't have an enterprise IM client here sans Office Communicator (which hasn't been deployed widespread here yet).

and speaking of, they are also enabling Office Communicator for BlackBerry at some point later this year, from what i've read/heard. a beta is still not out for it, though, but when it is, i will post up some screenshots of it in action.

:-)

Probably wont see BES until end of the year.. and some cell providers wont put out the handheld upgrades until late first quarter... but there are some really cool new features. One of the biggest features in my mind is the role-based administration! Built-in corporate messaging is obviously another big one.

Yeah, well be there on the 7th. I hope it's worth it..

TroyB 09-06-2005 10:58 AM

I listened to a recap of the Webcast. Anyone know anything more about the "Pin2PIN and SMS message Audit logs"? Is the BES actually going to start archiving these messages so we'll no longer need a third party vendor to do that or am I misunderstanding?

Thats the way i understand it. I don't know for sure, but i bet it will function like the BlackBerry Messenger Auditing added in 4.0.2 where each handheld automatically sends a report via email to a designated mailbox every X hours.

What third party vendor do you use to capture PIN and SMS. We disable outbound PIN and SMS on our BBs but inbound PIN and SMS can not be blocked on the BBs. We have been evaluating vendors to determine who is the best with capturing this inbound information.

4.1 Release Date?

Has anyone seen a release date for BES 4.1 yet?

BB Junkie 01-06-2006 06:22 PM

what I have heard, 4.1 is slated to be released sometimes late 1st quarter of this year.

phlukanad 01-12-2006 11:34 AM

O2 Tech Support advise me it is slated for "end of February 2006"

bfrye 01-12-2006 12:46 PM

I don't think it will be that early.

WMedley 01-13-2006 03:29 PM

BES 4.1 Release Date

I would not expect to see 4.1 until at least the end of the first quarter. I am on the BES beta team and we are seeing a lot of activity and changes being implemented. There is some greate functionality. The instant messaging connectivity is awesome(tested both domino and messenger), and the delegated administration is a god send

jbaltz69 01-18-2006 10:08 AM

Does anyone know if blackberry will support SQL 2005 x64 with BES 4.1?

rpfeffer 01-18-2006 10:14 AM

will this fix the ridiculous logging issue?

BBSS 01-18-2006 12:58 PM

i can't wait for the administration options with BES 4.1

rpfeffer 01-18-2006 01:02 PM

any chance on getting a rebroadcast of this webcast?

BBSS 01-18-2006 01:04 PM

Is this what you are looking for:

Would be nice if you could download the webcasts for offline viewing. Streaming video\audio is blocked where I work so I have to watch these webcasts from home after hours! I have suggested to RIM a few times that they make the webcast downloadable. I encourage everyone else to do the same.

The BlackBerry Enterprise Solution™ v4.1 will continue to build on many of the core features that have already made the BlackBerry platform the leading wireless solution for connecting mobile professionals to the people and information that drive business.

With the latest release of the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution, your organization could enjoy valuable new features and functionality in a solution that’s easier than ever to manage and support.

Easier Management and Support

Group-based administration – can ease administrative tasks by assigning properties and executing tasks across groups, such as IT policies, email filters, Personal Information (PIM) synchronization, autosignature, etc.

Enterprise Instant Messaging
