Re: BIS down in South Africa
lol, no worries, been hearing from a couple people this side that they are also having trouble with browsing, social, as well as IM.
Iv pulled my battery about 4 times, regitered my HRT about 3 times and still nothing. Guess its one of those wait and see moments, not gonna bother phoning the service provider, they useless at their jobs. |
Re: 10 october 2011 EMEA outages ?
There are reports over on Crackberry for outages around Europe. Perhaps the BIS 4.1 upgrade....?
|
Re: 10 october 2011 EMEA outages ?
Apparently RIM is aware of this, affecting not all, but many wipespread across the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa)

Re: 10 october 2011 EMEA outages ?
Message To Blackberry Users: 50% of the population with blackberry's across Europe, Middle East and Africa are unable to use their Internet, Blackberry Messenger, Facebook, Twitter, E-Mail and other applications. (Calls & Texts Are Working As Normal) They're aware of the issue and are trying to get it resolved. Its affecting companies and business too, so its a MAJOR issue worldwide. They have said they're hoping to have things sorted by tea time tonight.

Re: 10 october 2011 EMEA outages ?
Hi, just spoke to Vodacom, seems there is a BIS/BES issue generally. They were unable to help me and indicated the rpoblem is widespread.

Re: 10 october 2011 EMEA outages ?
If you put any faith in BoyGeniusReports (BGR), here is what they are reporting:
"BlackBerry users in Africa, the Middle East and Europe have been without service since 11:00 a.m. Monday, The Telegraph reports. A bug on Research In Motion's server in Slough, England is to blame and it appears to have impaired all users, independent of carrier or device. RIM has not issued a statement on the matter. There is an issue with BlackBerry services at present, a T-Mobile UK representative said on Twitter. RIM [is] investigating this at present.; Additionally, Batelco, a wireless carrier in Bahrain, issued a statement that confirmed the service was out in the entire country and explained the issue is being dealt with by BlackBerry providers in Canada." |

Re: 10 october 2011 EMEA outages ?
Geez, whatever happened to RIM's reputation of offering "bulletproof" service? Seems they've come undone in recent years.
|
Re: 10 october 2011 EMEA outages ?
My Ahlen, Germany BES server spiked at 84% of my users having 'pending' messages (quite a few on Orange), the server briefly lost connection to RIM then reconnected, and the pending users is now down to an acceptable level.
Perhaps they have resolved the issue, but there may be a backlog as things catch up. |

Bulletproof service?! RIM? Seriously? You must be a consumer rambo. As part of the premium corporate support packages you receive BIN notifications. These are Blackberry Infrastructure Notifications and are delivered on TX3/4TX5 support contracts. For the premium of nearly half a million bucks (depended on regions/number of servers deployed) you get to have a laugh at the infrastructure going up and down like a rollercoaster DAILY. Bulletproof is sadly one thing it's not, a yo-yo or a bride's nightie comes close enough though if you need to visualise it. |
