Are you using the VZ Access Manager software that came with your Curve?

f0rsfed 05-09-2008 06:38 PM

that might be my problem.... but if I'm using a mac, that software won't work right?

I would give VX Access a try. I am using it on my mac, but it says it is for the Motorola Q. What's the worst that happens.......

f0rsfed 05-09-2008 09:25 PM

what is VX access... you mean VZ access the verizon software?

I think that's what he means, prolly a typo. I use VZAccess Manager for the Q and/or for the USB720 to tether my Pearl. VZAM sees it when you go through the set-up when the Pearl is plugged in via USB. You don't need VZAM if you are going to use Bluetooth. There is a link to a great video tutorial in this forum for BT tethering.

One thing I have found is that if you are using Missing Sync, it disables the USB driver for VZAM, and vice-versa. This has been confirmed by MarkSpace software and they are working on a solution.

***If anyone has found a way to USB tether AND sync with MissingSync, PLEASE let me know!***

Yes, VZ, my bad. Also disable BT on your mac when you us VZ Access. There is a conflict between BT using a USB port and VZ Access when you plug in your BB via USB cable

Wirelessly posted (FingaBerry)

I have been able to us the Mac version of VZ Access to teather my 8703 on Verizon. Give it a try.

VZ Manager and Parallels

Has anyone tried tethering through Parallels? If so, does it work in Windows mode only? can I use BB with Mac programs after connecting?

does tethering with Verizon cost extra like AT&T or is it included in your unlimited data plan?

Yes, it costs extra. It's a $15 per month add-on feature.

Hey guys Im mot so new here but I have been somewhat quiet :)

I wanted to address the Mac tethering for Verizon. I have managed to set up the bluetooth teathering with out any issues. With your 8100-8130 and Mac OS X 10.5.3 (Curve too), simply pair and you should get prompted with a window:

After selecting continue you should see:

In this window change "Phone Vendor" to "Other"... now you should see "Verizon Support (PC 5220)" in the model number field. Enter your phone number in front of vzw3g.com. Now enter "vzw" in password field and continue. You should now be ready to rock. Go to networks and you should see this when connected:
