OS: 9800 6.0.0.2475/6.0.0.546 (All Languages)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.2475 (All Languages)
This release will work on any carrier's device by following the directions below.

Package Version: 6.0.0.2475
Consisting of:

Applications: 6.0.0.546
Software Platform: 6.6.0.207
File name: 9800AllLang_9800PBr6.0.0_rel2475_PL6.6.0.207_A6.0. 0.546 .exe
File size: 199.92MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: Download here

Instructions for installing on the 9800:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

I'm having the same freezes (thinking icon spins forever) that I had with 526.

I'm back on the .450 beta which is stable.

I have had this for a while with my BlueAnt Q1 headset. I do not believe that the problem is related. I actually figured out that it appears to be a proximity/range/positioning thing as I can reproduce the dropouts at will by moving the BB into certain positions/locations away from the headset.

This release is great for batter life for me. It pretty much doubled going from 534 to 546.

Interesting. I installed .450 and the BT dropout problem goes away. Relative positions of the devices are fixed. Unfortunately .450 is harder on the battery.

MODS: Is there some reason why although there have been THREE later official software releases now for the 9800, you still have 6.0.0.448 stickied here as "the latest release? I've always relied on BBF for all my info, including looking at what's the latest official software release for my device. But for some reason now, we have had new releases for a period of several WEEKS, without the sticky being updated.

Is there a change log? I'm tempted to update but I'm new to the Torch. I've just upgraded from .226 which was horrendous on battery life to .448 which is brilliant for battery life. Is there any REAL reason to update to .546?

No change logs; RIM releases them to the carriers, who choose not to release them to their customers. Very rarely one will appear.

There is a browser update in this release.

*I can also confirm the browser small square box problem is fixed (so far)

Re: Latest OS: 9800 6.0.0.2475/6.0.0.546

So far with this latest OS update,

*The install was flawless(no errors)I let Loader.exe do the work!

*Battery, after several pulls device settled down, moderate use, draining 2.0% an hour, 11hrs after last reset(not bad at all)

*Memory drain phenomenal 1.2MB since reset(11hrs)

*Touch screen reacts fine when tapping apps, scrolling about the device with ever so slightly spinning icon... seems to go away after more usage.(nothing to be concerned with for me)

*Major thing for me with the browser,OS .526 was rendering the rectangular or square box on some web sites, they were small to see what you were typing, this is now fixed with this OS!! (very annoying)this was my major reason for trying this OS!

*All my installed applications are working fine, only glitch I have w/BeBuzz for some reason toast is not working!(maybe I am not setting something right?) I love my BeBuzz toast!

This one is a keeper for me!

Interesting to hear a smoothing out for you, Tbird...

I've been on from .450 for about 10 hours. Initially was having some browser issues -- in going thru bookmarks, several pages would not load or took inordinantly long. After a battery pull that seems to have corrected a little bit, but I hope more...

Hope to see memory improvement...

First upgrade that did not mix up or lose any home screen icons/folders, but for some reason DM nor the updare would save all my homescreen shortcuts?!

Nothing new/flashy to notice(?)...

Discovered the solution to the spinning think icon and battery drain on another forum. If you have this issue, ensure that "Enable Compression" is deselected for your storage media.

I went one step further and unchecked the box, then reformatted my card.

.546 is running awesome now!

Someone please confirm, as I'm not sure if its due to the upgrade or due to an app I just uploaded:

When you are charging your BB, the little gold charge symbol above the battery that comes on while its charging:

Do you now see the charging symbol blinking?
