Help with unlocked bb
Hello
I was hoping that someone would be able to help me with my bb. I got it from a friends who's work used it for emailing purposes only and now the contract is done. It was originally used with T-Mobile and when I use it (with my roger's SIM) it only allows emergency calls only. I've been told that it is not locked because when I look the SIM, Network, Network Subset, Service Provider, and Corporate are all DISABLED. If anyone has any advice that would be great!! thanks! |
Re: Help with unlocked bb
Maybe the company who used to own it reported it stolen and it is now banned.

Re: Help with unlocked bb
Check to see if it has an IT Policy on it; some policies restrict phone usage.

How do I check if it has an IT policy and what do I do if it does? |

Re: Help with unlocked bb
Its a BB curve 8520 and is says the IT policy is enabled when I type 'BUYR'. Is there a way that I will be able to use it? Will talking with the original carrier help (T-Mobile) or with my carrier (Rogers)?
Thanks again!! |

What shows in the top right hand corner? GSM EDGE or SOS
To remove the IT policy, you will have to get the lastest HH code for the 8520 install that then follow this. * This procedure can delete either all data, or all data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone. Back up the data before performing this procedure.* Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer. From the Start menu, click Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. When a computer running Windows Vista™ is used, the BlackBerry smartphone user might need to right-click the Command Prompt application and choose Run as administrator. Find the Apploader folder by typing cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader and then pressing ENTER. For computers using a 64 Bit version of Windows®, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader Type loader.exe /resettofactory. Type the BlackBerry smartphone password if prompted. It should remove the IT policy from the device Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |
