Ghost SMS Messages
 

I have a Blackberry BOLD. Recently I have a SMS message that shows up on the home screen that says I have a new SMS message. I have looked through what seems like everything to try to find it so it will go away. I have tried the following things with no success: battery pull, deleting all prior messages, viewing saves messages (none in folder), viewing each folder separately and deleting everything in there. I don't know what else to do. Any other suggestions (that I have not tried)? Thanks.

Voice mail notifications are delivered to the BlackBerry smartphone through Short Message Service (SMS) messages. Therefore, SMS messages and voice mail messages share the same notification settings.

To change voice mail alerts, complete the following steps:

From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Profiles > Advanced.
Highlight the notification profile you want to update and display the menu.
Click Edit > SMS.
Change the settings to reflect how you want new voice mail message alert notifications to function.
Display the menu and click Save.

I'm sorry. I am so confused. I can't find profiles. If I am on the home screen and I press the blackberry button (beside the trackball) then the options I get are: move, move to folder, hide, options, add folder, switch application.

arbybaby, tsac is trying to tell you to go to your PROFILE settings, my profile setting is located on the upper left side of my home screen (its the little speaker looking icon)

Once you click on it a list of at least 6 different profiles will appear.

At the bottom of that list it will have the option ADVANCED, scroll to it and click on it.

Now click the Blackberry/Menu button, scroll to and select EDIT, and you will have a long list of different profile actions (SMS, Email, Phone, Google talk, etc) that you can scroll to and change how they notify you when using that profile.

Remember you are only changing the notification method in the one profile you are currently using. If you go to profiles and select a different one (loud, vibrate, quiet, normal, etc) you will have to repete this process to change notifications to what you want in each one
