Blackberry Bold With Snow Leopard

Hello All,

I am just wondering if there is anyone here that has had good sucess with using a bb 9000 with snow leopard. I am coming from a iPhone and have had mine die on me from abuse and such so rogers offered me a 9000 at a good price.

How easy is internet tethering?
Will I be able to use my MobileMe account to its fullest extent? (email, contacts sync, calendar sync. all over mobile me)
How is the battery life on the unit while using teathering

Thankyou all!

Read blackberryfaq.com. Read the stickies at the tops of the subforums.

Load another OS on the blackberry? No.

At the faq you will read about why you need a blackberry data plan, and using the blackberry on a generic data plan.

Welcome to the group.

He is not talking about loading another OS on the blackberry. Yes you can either download desktop manager for mac or use pocketmac. You cannot sync your contacts, etc. with mobileme.

Desktop Manager: BlackBerry - Desktop Software for Mac

Pocketmac: PocketMac -- Sync Macintosh Contacts, Calendars, Tasks, Ringtones, EMail & More To BlackBerry, Pocket PC, Smartphone, iPhone, and much more... | Call (619) 739-4027

Ahhhh you are right... My brain read what it expected to see instead of what was there. I see it this morning. My bad.

You won't be able to _wirelessly_ sync with MobileMe like the iPhone. Contacts, Calendar, and (I believe) Notes will sync via USB to/from the desktop using BBDM for Mac. Email can be configured via BIS, but IS NOT the same as on the iPhone (it's not ful IMAP with all folders visible).

You will need:

1. Blackberry data plan. Switch from iPhone data plan. They're not the same. Talk to your carrier.
2. BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac. Free from Blackberry. To sync the above items. I would RUN not walk from PocketMac. Too many issues to discuss.
3. Read the BB FAQs as mentioned by aiharkness. Lots of good info on the BB there.

Please research the differences between the iPhone and a BB. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses, and you will probably find one fits your needs better than the other. Obviously, we are all BB fans here :-)

Let us know if you have any other questions, and we'll do the best we can to answer.
