FYI
Macbook with lion and torch 9810 . I wanted to be able to install beta OS when possible . vmware did not do this but parallels desktop with windows xp, does it pretty well with lion ...

The only problem with Parallels is that sometimes the USB ports don't have full functionality in Windows.

Did you try Bootcamp?

My suggestion would be to find a used PC/laptop to use specifically for that purpose, I know some BB users have done this, or find a friend with a PC who will let you use it to do an upgrade.

it just happened so i dl vmware fusion 4 and so far so good upgraded 9810 to 353 without a hitch..

VMware Fusion is slightly more complicated to install, but it's the most robust solution short of getting a cheap pc laptop.
