Best way for E-mail/BB Sync

Can anyone recommend the best way to sync both the BB and e-mail box with each other? One of our users had about 256 unread e-mails on BB and only about 20 in outlook. I think what he did was delete or move them to another folder in outlook which wouldn't allow the reconcile to update.

Now, I though I'd be clever and save him sometime and wipe the device to re-sync and start again. That was fine but his BB and inbox didn't sync e.g the BB didn't pick-up any e-mails from his outlook inbox unless they came in after I did this.

I've now, wiped it again and deleted the user from BES to start again. Have I made a mountain out of a mole hill or have I got the right idea......or whats the best way?

(I guess the tiltle should say "Best way to re-sync E-mail with BB)

BES 4.1 Express
BB 8700f
MS Exchange 2003

The inbox does not sync with the BB - if you remove and readd the user it should pre-populate with like 200 messages (depending on BES settings) but there is no way to make the bb msg list to match the inbox unless the user forwsards all the emails to himself and then they all have the current date and time and all show sent from the user

Reconcile

I have users who have the bad habit of leaving messages on the BB and expect them to reconcile since they were read in Outlook. I tell them to Reconcile Now, yet it doesnt always work. Which to me is annoying only because I have to listen to them complain. Complaining is part of the job let's face it.

Is the reconcile now suppose to do just that or am I confused?

Are the users using personal folders? If so, then the messages are probably dropping into personal folders, being read but then there's no way to reconcile them back to the BB again. I run Outlook directly off the mailbox--no personal folders. IT guys hate it because I take up room on their server but it makes my BB work good!

If your IT guys prefer .PST over the Exchange data store, you need new IT guys.

Fast.

What are you waiting for?

don't waste any more time reading this, fire them!!!!

Well, it's more like they need a new server because it's running out of space.

He's 100% sure his mailbox was copied to the BB when we first activated his device and handed it over to him? I explained that messages get deleted if they are x numbers of days old (the default setting). So when we activated his devices, he's sure that all the mail in his inbox and sub folders where on his BB too from day 1 but the old mail got removed as they dated?

I guess we need to think about setting up users with the desktop software so they can take BB back-ups?

Hard drives are really cheap.

And when a workstation's hard driv crashes taking the user's .PST with it, what happens?

Storage is cheap. Your IT guys are asleep at the switch.
