Latest OS: 8100 4.5.0.313/4.5.0.188 (Multilanguage)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.313 (Multilanguage)
for the 8100 model only

Package Version: 4.5.0.313
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.188
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.110
* File name: 8100M_PBr4[2].5.0_rel313_PL2.7.0.110_A4.5.0.188
* File size: 93MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download OS here (choose Free Download Area > Endgeräte > BlackBerry > then your device model #):
Blackberry

Instructions for installing on ANY 8100 (regardless of carrier)
(Use Desktop Manager to backup your BlackBerry first, and then close Desktop Manager):

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."

If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

jagl19 10-10-2010 11:28 AM

downloading now... what's different from 4.5.0.182??

NJBlackBerry 10-10-2010 11:37 AM

Likely just some bug fixes - RIM sends release notes to the carriers, but they choose not to release them. So we really don't know!

The download link is there, it's directly under the instructions on how to get to the download.

Directly below:
"Download OS here (choose Free Download Area > Endgeräte > BlackBerry > then your device model #):"

Re: Latest OS: 8100 4.5.0.313/4.5.0.188 (Multilanguage)

Thank you so much, ladies and gentlemen!

Thanks to this information, I was able to update my ancient (four year old) BlackBerry Pearl 8100. It was purchased new from T-Mobile U.S.A., and was recently removed from service as a business phone.

I couldn't get rid of the company I.T. policy since the latest "official" O.S. for the phone was 4.2.1.107. BBSAK wouldn't recognize the phone as connected (even though it asked for the password, and recognized the correct password). The latest BlackBerry desktop software would not perform a factory reset either. The I.T. department at the company were baffled and hadn't been able to do anything either, although they did try their best!

Armed with the information above, I was able to easily download install 4.5.0.188, and then perform the "loader.exe resettofactory" command in a command line interface for Windows 7 (64 bit), which had done nothing previously. This time it worked and the requirement for a password that locks the phone every fifteen minutes is gone at long last.

Thanks also for the warning that the phone would be busy doing "stuff" for long periods. It meant that I wasn't worried it was just stuck, and left it to finish its business!

May you have good traffic light karma for the rest of 2012 and beyond!

Re: Latest OS: 8100 4.5.0.313/4.5.0.188 (Multilanguage)

I can't tell you for sure. Although the origin of the application is T-Mobile in Germany, I use mine with U.S. English. There were quite a few language options at one point in the whole procedure, but I removed the checks from the check boxes for those languages that I did not anticipate using. I don't remember if Chinese was one of them.

The download was over 90MB, so it may take a while, even on a relatively fast connection.

You need a BlackBerry data plan and this is the wrong place for your enquiry.
