Problem with blackberry ID
So, got the new 9900 today and can't set it up.
I need to go to the Email icon in setup so I can setup GMAIL which will sync contacts / calendar. However, whenever I'm asked for my blackberry ID, I get an error, 'unable to login to your blackberry ID account' I spent a while on the phone with tech support, who actually logged into my phone via logmein, and they then spoke to RIM. Apparently this is a problem with version 7, and they are working on a fix. So for now, I will have to sync things manually. Rushed to market perhaps? This is pretty poor. |
Re: Problem with blackberry ID
I logged in successfully each time I tried - I'm not aware that there's an issue with the new OS regarding BBID login...but good to know!
|
Re: Problem with blackberry ID
There is no issue with the new OS for BBID login. I can login too. It must be carrier connected.

Re: Problem with blackberry ID
I have the same issue with my 9900..
I'm also on Vodafone. I can log into blackberry.com with my ID on my desktop, but nothing using the ID works on the handheld. (Protect, App world etc etc). Thanks, Lee. |
Re: Problem with blackberry ID
Seems the issue sometimes occurs when a device switch is performed, as some of the information being passed to the new OS brings a certain level of corruption.
You must wipe the phone, and then re-install the OS, then associate your unit with your BBID (Via App World), then you may use the DM to restore contacts and such (even better would be to back up old unit with Berry Protect and then back up contacts (except for BBM)) and everything on your new unit, just be sure that when you first associate your handset, that you use the same account that you used for Protect and App World. |
Re: Problem with blackberry ID
I have a 9900 on Vodfaone and my BB ID ha stopped working today. Now I can't access app world or BB protect. Has anyone contacted Vodafone?

Re: Problem with blackberry ID
Not sure if this is related, but RIM just published this KB:
KB28038-BlackBerry App World hangs after clicking My World or BIS Email Setup will not connect after switching to a BlackBerry 7 smartphone |
Re: Problem with blackberry ID
I was told by a seemingly good Telus tech that if you switch from a CDMA BB to an HSPA BB your BIS account is suspended and must be unlocked. Not sure if this is just Telus or any CDMA carrier. As soon as he unlocked it everything worked again as it should.

No, no need for such drastic solutions. A wipe should be last resort. For all Vodafone customers concerned BEFORE you change devices on DM, login manually to BIS and change devices there. Put the sim into the new handset, let it connect to the wireless network authenticate the mail accounts and send service books down. Login to BIS BEFORE you move the sim to the new handset. After the device switch there, now perform normally the DM device switch and everything should be in order. Any other way mail delivery would stop and BBID would not allow you to connect, even the store becomes unavailable. Fscks up BES activation mail too. All those rather obvious things would most likely get ironed out on new OS releases. |
Re: Problem with blackberry ID
Many carriers no longer support a Web GUI BIS app...

Actually ALL BIS portals of any carrier that offers the service is a redirect to RIMs portal access server to BIS. You can hit the same service by either going through the carrier's link or passing an argument to RIM's domain for BIS (they're subdomain'd per region) |
Re: Problem with blackberry ID
I am having the same problem from the internet I setup a new BIS account and added my gmail. Yet on the phone when I try and log into the email settings and I enter my username it keeps saying invalid email address. I have been away from BB for awhile but you just enter your user name like normal right not an email address? I am on Verizon in Austin, TX if it matters.

Correct. |
Re: Problem with blackberry ID
Got it working guy at Verizon just deleted all my prior ones off my account and I started fresh from the device. Feels good being back on a BB after being on Android for so long.

You don't experience the same problem with the above users. you just mistyped your password first time round. The Vodafone problem is probably related to service book availability and it's even mentioned by a number of users on the official support forum. Welcome btw. |
I have also have a similar problem, only in this case it says to "enter username associated with this smartphone", yet it automatically supplies my username. Its so frustraing!!!
