upgrade Blackberry Profession Express to BES5

Hi, all,

I'm trying to figure out if I can upgrade my Blackberry Professional Software Express (on an SBS2003 server) to BES 5. Anybody have any insight? I can't find anything on RIM site that speaks directly to this.

Wirelessly posted

I'm not sure that is an upgrade path, maybe that's why you can't find it. However, knowing our very experienced forum members, they might have a way to get it done.

No, it's a different product. Blackberry Professional Software is EOL (End Of Life). No more upgrades for that as RIM announced they were killing it several months ago. (n)

Do you happen to know if there will be a small-business replacement product?

There will be other products out. You can migrate from SBE to Enterprise BES - $3,200.00.

Thanks for the info. I don't think my client, a small non-profit, will be making that transition.

Great product, wierd company.

Yeah we all know companies - oh like Microsoft - never introduce new software and EOL others...

Supposedly there will be some mystery third-party solutions by the time RIM finally kills BPS, but nobody knows what. Just that "something will be available..." Sounds like a prayer to me, but I guess maybe RIM has handed the ball to the developer community.

Well, I'm no fan of MS, but I can't recall MS ever replacing one product (BESExpress) with another (BPSE), then within months abandoning it and its users without addressing its users concerns.

You bought a Chevette and it will never run like a Corvette unless you pay alot.

BPSE on SBS was not supported either.

Thanks to all who replied. I'll try to find a forum where people are not so sensitive.

I am knot sensitive. I do knot promote unsupported systems.

Since when was BPSE knot supported on SBS2003?
