8520 not storing SMS Service Centre Number ?

For some reason BB 8520 is not storing the SMS Service Centre Number. Whenever I input and store the Service Centre Number the phone shuts down and restarts automatically, the number does not store.
I managed to 'disable' the IT Policy using CrackUtil, but still no result.
Any ideas?

I think you may want to look into reloading your BB OS

I don't think your IT Policy is really disabled. The only way to deal with an IT Policy is to remove it.

Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ

You should know that circumventing an IT Policy is often grounds for dismissal. Just saying'...

I followed Method 1: IT Policy Removal but the same thing happens it reboots the phone and the number is not stored.
What else can I do? please put a link to instructions if you can

I followed it from KB14202, again no result after 15mins of the Removal process.
IT POLICY is disabled. This was known from: options -> status (then typing BUYR)

You might have to wipe with JL_Commander and reload the OS.

When you enter the SMS Service Center Number, are you using the Menu key to "Save". You might need to do this several times once you have the number entered in the engineering screen.

As soon as I click "save" it reboots automatically even in the 'Menu' option.
Could you direct me to a link where I can follow instruction to wipe, download and reinstall the correct OS. The phone is 8520 smartphone(EDGE) v4.6.1.272 (platform 4.2.0.118)

but you might think about updating to a newer OS. There are many later releases. Just look at the top of the 8500 forum section.

Thanks for the advice. (I always knew I had to upgrade the OS.)

Re: 8520 not storing SMS Service Centre Number ?

Well no quiet functioning completely yet. The Service Center Number (SCN) is able to'store' and can now send SMS's but if I reboot the phone for whatever reason the SCN disappears and has to be inputted again.
Another problem encountered was that the phone was not able to connect to the home wifi. The OS tried for the above issues were v5.0.0.681 and v5.0.0.1036.

So I decided to install OS v4.6.1.409 this brought the old SCN storage problem again but at least I can connect to home wifi.

I have been installing the OS's from Vodafone UK via the blackberry website. My sim card is infact Tmobile but the vendor logo on phone startup is Vodafone. So am I installing the correct OS from the correct vendor as I notice the file sizes for the same version numbers from different vendors (i.e O2,tmobile,vodafone) vary which leads me to think they are not eaxctly the same. And does it matter out of the three which vendor I download the OS from I think they all should work fine although I have not tested them yet.

How can one infrom blackberry to issue another OS v5.x.x to solve the SCN and wifi issues, also can someone adivce me further.
