Volume down key produces letter 'n' ?

When I press the volume down button, it is the same as pressing the letter 'n' on the keyboard and it does not reduce the volume. Very odd behaviour, I have been looking for an answer but with no luck so far. Anyone got a tip for how to make it work or another way to reduce the volume without using the volume down key?

I have tried rebooting and the BB battery pull and tried the volume control before anything else.

Was the BlackBerry ever dropped or did it get wet (or even damp)?

Yes I have dropped it and it has been in the rain with me too. However the key works, if I switch key tones on I get the key beep and as described it produces 'n' in the auto search screen for every press of the volume down button.

It's damaged. Replace it.
