Rogers BB Bold 9000 on Telus?

Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm planning on giving my Unlocked BB Bold 9000 to my mom because I want to convert her to make the jump from regular dumbphone to a BB, but she's with Telus and I'm on Rogers.

If it works, then she can finally get on the BB ship and I plan to upgrade to a 9700.

I've read on other sites that it didn't work completely, but I've also read sites where it worked fine. So I wanted to see if I can get more information on it.

Thanks.

You could try using this online tool.

Hi There, Just to let you know, that it will work, I had mine now for 2 days and working very well.
I had a rogers 9000, i unlocked it, and inserted the Telus SIM and every thing works fine

I have personally tested an unlocked Rogers Bold 9000 with a Telus SIM. As long as it's properly unlocked, you can get yourself a Telus SIM for $10 from a Telus store and perform the activation.

Just a couple of dumb questions from a NOOB. I just picked up an unlocked Rogers Bold 9000 and put in the SIM card from my Telus 8830. However, the phone doesn't "see" any networks other than Rogers.

Two questions:

1) Is it the SIM card that causes the phone to "see" networks? Or should I be able to see the telus/bell hsdpa network without a functioning SIM card?

2) Should the SIM card from my 8830 work? If not, how do I "activate" the SIM card once I purchase it from telus? From what I can gather from the website it seems as though I have to order a new data plan to activate it. I just want to use my existing voice/data plan but with the new "handset". Am I hooped?

Thanks in advance!
