9900 Battery fix suggestion
If you are having issues with your battery life you are not alone
I too was having the same where I had to charge the battery twice. So I started trying every OS out there for 2 days and they were all crap, which made me think that this is just how the phone is, until someone recommended me to try OS 7.0.0.261, and there was the huge difference! My phone easily lasts 1-5 to 2 days. I am on day 2 now and my battery life is still 35% and I am an above average user. 261 has been the best in terms of battery life for me and has 0 errors. I recommend you try it, and you will definitely thank me for it. As much as we all love to easily do that. That is a big issue migrating to OS 7 What you need to do is backup your device using BlackBerry Desktop Manager, but in the back up process, do not select full backup, select the 2nd option which is custom then only select: Contacts Messages BalackBerry Messenger BBM Groups Browser Bookmarks SMS Messages MMS Messages Nothing else! Any imported apps, options, app permissions, handheld keystore, etc from OS 6 or OS 5 are not compatible with OS 7 Try again and I bet you it will make a night and day difference After you have wiped and reinstalled OS 261, then restore back from DM again and start loading only the 100% compatible apps |
re: 9900 Battery fix suggestion
Has anyone else tried this? I'm very interested...Right now I'm still using the 9700...until I can get at least 1 day of battery life with 3+ hrs talk time.

Coming back on topic now, there is no "fix". The handset is a power hungry workhorse and is shipped with a battery that's not up to the task. It worked nicely on earlier models because their spec wasn't as resource hungry. I'm confident third party vendors would have extended battery packs released soon. Had my 9000 running on a 3500mah pack, missing it dearly  |

If you don't like this, then dont do it but dont go posting false information As I said before, I was close to believing that the battery life sucks on this device, until someone suggested me to use 261 and whoaaaa was the big difference after a complete wipe and custom restore |
re: 9900 Battery fix suggestion
You recommend to people not to use any of their OS5/OS6 applications because "they're not compatible". Yet you post meterberry screenshots that as of latest release (2.5.0) doesn't support OS7 and the latest version includes support for OS6/Torch.
Maybe follow your own advice? <Yes/yes>? OS7 was just a marketing naming decision. The OS is under the 6.0 tree and was initially named 6.1 Compatibility between different OS and code trees is NOT depended on naming conventions. It's based on API availability on the specific platform, feature set of the specific series, CDLC/MIDP versioning and availability of depended modules. As i said already, the amount of misinformation in your post is disturbing.. |

It was initially marked with a red cross then Mobihand updated it to show as compatible! http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/4301/captureosu.png Do not speak if you have no experience with the app n00bie As you can see, you can also set in the options to make it properly display that 768 MB memory. Go figure I confirmed with the developer that it is 100% compatible The developer told me that Meter Berry simply reads the battery from the OS and calculates the average discharge rate per hour |

If you dont like it, then stop posting and go do something useful. Let the other try for them selves and see the benefits. After all, if what I said is not true, they can easily change the OS to anything else! n00b |

Furthermore, the title of this thread needs to be changed. This particular OS update is not the magical fix for everyone's battery issues, and the thread should not be titled to give that impression. |

What part of that do you not get? He said the app does not need to be updated as it simply calculcates the battery reading from the OS and not indepenetly Why do you think Mobihand changed it from a RED X as not compatible to a green checkmark? Its only many users have contacted them and confirmed that it works perfectly with OS 7. Go figure |
