GPS for BB9790 with no DATA plan
 

Hi everybody!
I used to have Nokia C6 with Talk & Text plan and I was able to use GPS. Now I just got my BB9790 and what surprise it is!!! GPS does NOT work on the phone if I don't have DATA plan.
Is there any way I can activate and use GPS on my BB without upgrading to DATA?
I am old guy who does not have Facebook and I don't follow anybody on Tweeter, so for me to spend extra money on DATA plan is waste of money.
Please help!

Turn on GPS technology - User Guide - BlackBerry Bold 9790 Smartphone - 7.0

Set the GPS receiver that you use to track your movement - User Guide - BlackBerry Bold 9790 Smartphone - 7.0

May not be supported.

Without data it seems the best features of BlackBerrys are wasted. I think your only bet will be WiFi to get GPS data without a data plan. Maps are updated on the fly, not cached.

My advice is:

1. Get a stand alone GPS device (preferred choice)

2. Get a data plan
