4.2 software for 8700 finally out!

I just found the new 8700 software 4.2.1.108 (multi language) out from Telefonica Venezuela. I don't know if I can post links for not, so if I can't just google it.

Ah, so it is, thanks for the notice. Are you gonna be the guinea pig and try it out first? I'd like to... but just not so eager to jump off that bridge yet.

Nice find!

I have already put it on my two 8700s, one a 8700c and the other is a 8700g and they both work great!

So, please bring us up-to-date on the improvements/changes?

It now basically runs the same OS as the 8800 series which is 4.2.1. I love the fact that you can now have picture caller ID and you can now have your SMS/MMS and E-mails in different folders!

Will this work on my 8700e from Sprint.

Stinsonddog 04-11-2007 09:50 PM

Is it laggy in the OS like the 8800's. Assume it is since the processor is the same.

WozniakMac 04-11-2007 09:54 PM

This is in Spanish. Does it matter if I put this on my Cingular 8700c? Will it be in English?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

What changes will it do to my 8700g from T-Moblie. What are the dangers?

The gig seems to be up. I only see 4.1 on that list now.

4.1 is the Desktop Manager software, not a handheld OS. Look at the 8700g software for OS.

Well, I just started the installation, so we will see how it goes. I will post some differences when I am finished. Wish me (My BlackBerry) luck!

John Clark 04-11-2007 10:30 PM

Good Luck!

Luck! Report Back.

WozniakMac 04-11-2007 11:00 PM

All I can say is WOW!
Major change in speed. I think that the OS performs significantly faster, especially when changing themes. The new Cingular theme is actually an AT&T Branded theme, which looks very nice IMHO.
Really, other than cosmetics, it's nothing to dramatic. I will play with it some more and report back. Cya.
