9700 Tips Released (Full Qwerty; OS 5)
I have today put up pre-device release tips for the 9700. For those that are not aware, the tips are really driven by the combination of the keyboard and OS. So this document will be good for all QWERTY devices with OS 5.
The key updates from the 9000 are the change to the trackpad. I have attached the RIM KB article on what's new in OS 5 which applies to all OS 5 devices. I believe that many of the tips will need testing. Especially things like selecting text, yet I have confirmed that many of them are valid from the 9700 manual. The official RIM docs on the 9700 can be found here: BlackBerry Bold 9700 Series - Manuals and Guides Keyboard shortcuts can be found @ BlackBerryFAQ here: http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/O...oard_Shortcuts My tips are at my site. Please post corrections in this thread. |
Thanks, SD. As usual your tips site rules.

First thing I have found on OS 5 (.314) on my 9000 that will apply is no more homescreen shortcut "F" to switch profiles. The F is now used to flag emails if you have a 5 OS on a 5 BES, but why they took away the homescreen shortcut is beyond me.

Thanks a million! I feel like the 9700 is in my hands. Soon :)

On the PDF of Tips for 5.0, Under "What's so great about 9700, 5.0 ..."; Hot swappable microSD card slot, up to 32GB instead of 32mb.... lol

Will check it out as I notice in the first version that some of the shortcuts/hotkeys were only for the 9000 and didn't work on the 9700.

I suspect this next question may have been answered somewhere in the forums before, but god knows I've done 10 different searches and cannot find the exact answer.I'm using a Bold 9700 with the new OS.
Here's the scene: I'm in a call and my buddy gives me a phone number. I type it, and I see it typed in smaller font underneath the battery indicator while speaking on the phone. I just wanna call that number right as I hang up. Opening up notes and saving and all that is great when you actually want to write a note. But I just wanna jot down the number real quick and after I hang up the phone call that number, without my buddy calling me a retard for buying a BB instead of an iPhone 3gs, as is his. My 1999 Nokia phone could accomplish this, im sure there is a way but am too dense to see it myself. Much obliged :) |

You can acess to your media card by click on the Media icon, then press the option button on the device. After that choose explorer. You'll see your media card icon on the screen then! Goodluck! Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |
Hey there,
I would recommend adding that you can PASSWORD LOCK your device from the Home Screen using ALT+ENTER This seems to be a big issue in the forums. Cheers, --Phil |
