"Tabbed" Browsing

Way back when the first OS 5 version came out, I tried it out on my Bold 9000. One of the cool features was "tabbed" browsing. Just like on Firefox & IE you could open multiple tabs.

I found this particularly attractive as I could read say the BBC news headlines page and click on a link to open in a new tab. Then even if it took 30 sec to open, I could continue reading the main page before I switched.

However, I went back to OS 4.5 due to other OS 5 issues, and now can't see this feature in my 9700 with the latest OS. Is it gone??

You can download the opera mini beta.. this browser has tabbed broswing.

No tabbed browsing for native bb browser yet =[

The bolt browser uses tabbed browsing and I have become more fond of it than opera mini in its newest version.

I think they've benched most of the updates for the BB browser until they release the "all new" version of it. Makes sense to me if they're going to rebuild it from the ground up, and if it speeds the process then I'm all for it.

The built in BB browser is much better then it used to be with page formatting and other things, but it is in dire need of a complete overhaul..

Too bad the beta version of Opera mini locks up my 9700 100% of the time. Even on text only it is complete unadulterated garbage.

Opera 4 is passible but still really slow.

You're probably getting the wrong version of Opera Mini, the 9700 is being detected as OS 4.7 right now and that version is ONLY meant to be used on the Storm and Storm 2. If you get to the download page, hit the BB button and goto page address, you'll see at the end of the URL a "bbfw=4.7". That means that it's trying to download the version meant for touch screens, and the track pad does NOT work properly in that version.

What I did was copy and paste the URL I was at for DL into the goto url field and change the 4.7 to 4.3. I'll make it a little easier and put the link I used below, you should be able to open that link on the BB and download the proper version of Opera Mini 5 beta 2.

Make sure you've removed Opera completely before you load this version just to avoid any potential problems. Other then that it should work with no issues, been using it for a week or two now and it has been great!
