Blackberry Management MMC keeps crashing

The Blackberry Management MMC keeps crashing on me. I am using Bes 4.0 with hotfix 1 and 2 installed on Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003.

Almost everytime I set or remove an activation password, or resend the IT Policy and hit refresh, the MMC crashes.

It are always memory errors (the memory could not be "read") with different instructions on different memory addresses.

It is easy to reproduce: just set an activation password and hit apply. Then remove it again and hit apply. Usually that is enough to trigger the error.

Same here. Windows 2000, Exchange 2000 BES 4.0 upgraded from 3.6 MSDE. HF 1 and 2.

Don't have a fix yet.

Thanks. Good to know I am not the only one. I was afraid something was wrong with my BES server.

Hopefully this gets resolved in the next hotfix or SP.

Same here, too... :(

Windows 2003 Server (german), Exchange 2k3 (german), BES4 with HF1+2.

Lowtrac 03-08-2005 08:42 AM

Maybe there's something wrong in HF2. I'm running HF1 and I'm not having any problems.

WinWard 03-23-2005 02:13 AM

Mines also. Spoke with Research In Motion who believe that the issue could be related to the custom IT Policy (not the default one) or the Configuration Database.

Baldo 03-23-2005 09:58 AM

We are having the same problem and yes it looks like HF2 did something to bug up the IT Policies no matter if you are using Exchange or Domino. The IT Policy doesnt appear to save the changes you do to it after this crash...

I have the same issue with my Blackberry server.

Windows 2003
Exchange 2003
BES 4 with HF 1 & 2

The problems started after the installation of hotfix 2. Today I was playing with the IT Policy and the changes I made and saved just before the crash didn't came back when I started the software again.

Same here. HF1 and 2

As per MrHorse in another tread

RIM TSupport said it was a known issue. The SDR is 50147.

WinWard 03-23-2005 10:24 PM

And the issue was happening way before I applied H2....! There are also lots of SRPTID errors also....! Activation wirelessly was taking up to 4 hours yesterday!!!

xmen-13 03-24-2005 03:53 PM

Glad to know this is happening. thought I screwed up the buld of the BES 4.0 box.

Is RIM going to put out a ptach for this?

MMC Crash

Anybody have a fix for the MMC crash problem with HF1,2? I am having the same problem. BES 4.0 on W2K3 EX2K3. My MMC crashes when I right-click on properties of a user. It also takes down my server.

Thanks,
Brian :cap:

considering this post was made 8 months ago, have you tried upgrading to one of the newer service packs to see if it corrects the issue? we're on SP3 now, so it may be worth a shot.

bjorgenson 11-14-2005 10:37 PM

I did apply SP3 but the issue still remains.

b3peter 02-16-2006 02:51 PM

Has anyone heard of a fix for this?

BES MMC Crashing

I have resolved the issue with the BES MMC crashing by applying Hot Fix 4 for BES 4.0 SP3. I am running a Windows 2003 Server with SP1 on an Exchange 2003 environment.

MMC Crashes

Has anyone found a solution to this. Have just applied SP4 to BES 4.0 with hotfix 3 and it has started crashing the Blackberry Manager console. Was not happening on SP3 Hotfix 2.

Same Proble

I have the same proble here... anyone found a fix ?

stang35th 10-26-2006 08:46 AM

found a fix

I had to register the dll besmanmmc.dll (Regsvr32 -i besmanmmc.dll) and that fixed my problem.

Well, it worked on one server :( Still have the problem for 2 more.
