BlackBerry Curve to Launch May 31

BlackBerry Curve to Launch May 31

Exclusive to AT&T for at least 90 days after launch.

AT&T will launch the full-featured and much anticipated BlackBerry Curve on May 31 in all distribution channels. The BlackBerry Curve is exclusive to AT&T for at least 90 days after launch and is the smallest, lightest full QWERTY BlackBerry yet offered. It combines a compact design with many new features and broad international coverage.

With an exclusive, liquid silver finish and new trackball navigation system, the Curve is the first BlackBerry device to support AT&T Mobile Music, an enhanced media player, support for stereo Bluetooth headsets and a 3.5 mm headset jack. The device also features a 2-megapixel camera. The Curve is the first BlackBerry to offer spell-checker for e-mail, AT&T Push-to-Talk, TeleNav Maps and the AT&T Mall feature for purchasing ring tones and downloads.
The Curve offers support for phone, BES/BIS e-mail access, text messaging, Web browser, organizer, corporate data applications and more.

The quad-band BlackBerry Curve gives customers the ability to make phone calls in more than 190 countries and access e-mail and other data applications in 130 countries. All AT&T BlackBerry devices enjoy this advantage, giving the company the largest portfolio of BlackBerry products with global roaming capabilities of any U.S. carrier.

Special Note on Product Packaging at Launch

The BlackBerry Curve may also be identified as the BlackBerry 8300 on packaging and in-box materials for up to 30 days after launch.
Accessory packaging may have the BlackBerry 8300 designation for several months after launch. Please note these names refer to the same product. But in all customer-facing marketing materials (advertising, Web, merchandising), the BlackBerry Curve name will be used.

Other product highlights:

Then...if this is true, I'll be calling AT&T bright and early Thursday morning and ordering my new 8300. If not...I'll be waiting like everybody else...;-)

We'll see...

You think that demand/supply will be that bad? Is this gonna be sold out for the next month? Just wondering thoughts. Amen to finally getting date thumbs up to bg for this confirmation.

I understand that at&t will have the exclu for 90 days for the 8300. Have you heard anything about tmo releasing the 8320 anytime soon? or am I better off just buying the at&t 8300 and un-locking it?

Within 90 days the hype will be over and people will realise the Curve is not that special, believe me, it's good, but no better than the 8800, just different.

Another confirmation of 5/31 as the launch date from our corporate account rep.

It will likely be a couple of months. they are releasing demo units for the 8820 (Hands-on with RIM's WiFi-equipped BlackBerry 8820 - Engadget Mobile) so that will probably be released the first week of July as a cingular exclusive. They will not release it in June because of all the other big releases

I imagine the 8320 will be late july with the 8120 following about 3-4 weeks later. I just can't see them releasing it any earlier than that, they have been trying to spread major releases out about a month between. However it could be the 8120 first and then the 8320.

Just spoke to an AT&T Business Technical Services rep after helping me with a glitch with my Treo 680's email auto-sync. He affirmed that the Blackberry 8300 would indeed be launched on Thursday, May 31. He was actually waiting on the news himself...since he is a Blackberry fan (uses an 8700 now).

So...guess it's a real deal.

so whats up with the "launch party" on the 7th? i know its for the distribution channels and all but whoever is attending will have had the curve in stock for a week and are probably not that excited anymore.

greggebhardt 05-30-2007 05:08 AM

My friend at AT&T confirmed that they will be having their "class" on the 8300 today. She did not have prices but will this am when she comes in. She says that there will not be any shortages as her store has more 8300s being shipped to the store than any other phone she has seen introduced. Supply should be good!

That is possible. Seems the people who DO know are not talking. These RIM releases are way more secret than when Nextel was about to deliver a phone. I can remember seeing images of them in the store backroom way before delivery!

For AT&T to keep this all under wraps till the day they are going to be sold is quite a feat!

I Agree, not even a leaked pic of the device with branding or even a box pic ! The wraps are comin off real soon, and the Curve will finally be in our hands!

It's REALLY official now:

Research In Motion

Sparkomatic 05-30-2007 09:08 AM

Looks like the ebay indicator failed me this time around. No one selling an at&t branded device...yet! Come one ebay, don't let me down. We still have today for one to show up! lol

So, do you think some of these stores actually have them in the back and can't sell till tomorrow or will "some stores" start receiving them tomorrow?
