Question on server rebuild and Enterprise activations
Hello!
Noob to BES administration....and I have a question. We just went through a clean setup of BesX 5.0.3 (bundle 12) on a new 2008r2 x64 server. This is in a virtual environment. We moved from a physical 2003 server with Bes 5.0.1. We did not export from the bes server, instead electing to start fresh. We are now having some wierd OS related issues on the new server and its looking like we might have to start over. So my question is this: If I export the current users from BESx, rebuild the server keeping the name, IP, everything the same, and then reinstall BESx. Is it possible to import the users and not have to redo the enterprise activation for all the handsets? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!! |
Re: Question on server rebuild and Enterprise activations
BES doesn't have an EXPORT/IMPORT feature for user accounts so there's no way to even do what you're suggesting.
Just keep the same SQL database and point the new BES to it. You won't need to reactivate the handhelds if they're using the same SQL database and SRP. Basically, you want to do a knife-edge cutover. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17029 |
Re: Question on server rebuild and Enterprise activations
Actually there is a way to move the users without enterprise activations....... It's called the blackberry transporter tool. Since I am new I cant post links but you can find it relatively easy with a Google search. Make sure to use the version for 5.0.3. Post if you need additional help
