Jivetalk Question
I emailed them this question and got no reply.
Currently Rogers in Canada has a $15 unlimited email plan but there is no data. IM+ still works but I would rather spend the money and give it to JiveTalk. Is there anyway to make Jivetalk work on this plan like IM+ does. |
Well, you may just have to try it (free trial) to find out... but normally it needs data to operate, not an email plan. Enter the TCP/APN settings for Rogers, and it could.

IM+ and JiveTalk use data, sounds like your going to have data charges since you do not have a data plan. |
Two answer both. I tried Jivetalk it will not connect. But IM+ will connect
To cliff, When the $15 BB plan is added the data on the account is disabled but for some reason there are apps that still work. And if they ding me for data I will just get them to credit it because there own internal system (I work for them) says that data is disabled. Big thread here on what works HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - Software that works with no apn settings! On blackberry email plan! |
eh, a good one here too, same type info.

The difference is the $15 BB Plan is NOT a data plan. So it's not really the same. :-p
|
So, it's obviously not gonna work for you. You need the BB Data Plan to get full internet, data and push email.

BlackBerry Personal Email
Personal email on blackberry. People have found out that IM+ Works, Opera and some other apps works and no one has gotten dinged with data charges yet. Thats why I was hoping there would be a way to mike jivetalk work. |

yeah if you read up you will see I already tried jivetalk but it won't connect. This is the reason for the thread to see if it can be made to work. |
i was wondering, does anyone know if jivetalk will work using wifi? i know that you need a data plan/BB plan to use it but im with Rogers and we don't have unlimted data so i was planing on using the bb/data plan for back up and mostly use the wifi to chat on jivetalk since i am mostly in a spot where i can pick up wifi signal. Also anyone who is a Rogers customer, i was wondering if you guys can tell me what is the best plan for BB/data plan that rogers has? I'm thinking about signing up..Thanks in advance.
