Voice mail application?

Hello

As my cellphone provider redirects unanswered calls to voice mail after only three rings, I asked them to disable this so I wouldn't miss calls and have to call people back at my expense.

As a result, when I can't answer a call, the only option to make it stop ringing is to hit the red End/Power key which sends a busy tone to the caller. Not great :-/

As an alternative, I was wondering if there were an application that would record calls, effectively adding a local voice mail within the Blackberry phone.

Thank you.

On my curve 8300 there is button on the edge - top left, if you press it, it stops the noise but the ringing continues. I'm sure your curve does have same or a similar button. This is not what you asked for tho, just in-case you find it better than the End/Power key.

Incoming calls uses minutes just as outgoing calls, do they not?

Thanks for the tip. Which button do you mean? The 8300 and the 8520 look similar but there's only one button on the left side (which I use as shortcut to Memos), and on the top, there are three buttons to handle music (rewind, play/pause, forward).

Not over here: Only outgoing calls are metered. However, leaving a message on a provider's voice mail is billed to the caller.

So it doesn't look like anyone wrote a voice mail app that I can run on my 8520 :-/

The middle play/pause button. That's what my friend says. Pressing it silences the noise. Try it its only 3 buttons be gentle with your phone tho.
