Text Font Size

how do i change my text font size?

i go to settings > display > font size

if i change that value it makes my menu items bigger or smaller, and the items listed in my hub bigger or smaller, but when i open up a text to read it, that text remains the same size and does not change?

i could change the text size and FONT on my blackberry curve and bold....surely it must be possible on my classic?

Font size change works for everything except the font in a text message on some models. It was considered a bug of a design error that has not changed.
You could try a repower to see if it helps or maybe a software update if not up to date.

thanks for the info,

that seems absolutely rediculous considering the fact i could change the font and size on my blackberry curve almost 10 years ago,

tried software update, it says it is up to date, version is 10.3.3.1463

It is a bit ridiculous but once BB gives up on a phone were stuck and unless an OS upgrade fixes a problem we live with it.

i could understand if they just stuck with the same options and did not improve them, but why take options away?.....that is going backwards and makes no sense, why remove a feature?....if i had that feature 8 years ago why shouldnt it be available now?....not venting on you, thanks for the info

The reporting at the time was that BlackBerry brought in a whole new team for BB10 and did not use the BBOS people. So it isn't so much features were dropped as much as not added.

If you were using BB10 at release then you will remember how stripped down and immature it was. Slowly some of the BBOS features have been added, but even now BB10 is not near as mature as BBOS was. And as tsac say, BB10 is what it is and we won't see it develop to its full potential.

It stinks. But it's what it is.

And BB thinks they will survive doing software alone....amazing

Re: Text Font Size

I think the question is whether or not enough people will buy smartphones with BlackBerry brand.

BlackBerry realized it couldn't maintain its smartphone hardware business, even with its switch to Android. Obviously someone thinks they can do better with BlackBerry's brand and BlackBerry's software. I think it is still an open question.

Personally, I think the BlackBerry brand is a put off for most smartphone buyers in the USA. Devices with keyboard, too. Not for everyone. But for most.

Agreed. As the phones get bigger maybe some day we will have something called a laptop to use.

Re: Text Font Size

OT: My plan today if and when our Passports become unserviceable and I don't have a suitable smartphone alternative: Dumb cell phone and a mobile hotspot for my laptop.

I travel with the laptop anyway. If worse comes to worse, then data can wait until I'm ready to turn on the laptop and connect.

BlackBerry's android is not a suitable alternative for me. Nor iOS. I don't have any ideas now what we will use when the time comes, or if there will be a smartphone to replace BB10 devices.

@mikey1 I wish there were a better answer for you.

thanks for all the replies,

it just seems assinine to remove a feature like this and absolutely inexcusible, i have been a loyal BB user for almost 10 years but this is the last straw for me, if i had this feature 8 years ago then why not now?

this is like buying a car with power door locks and windows, then 5 years later you trade in that car for a newer model and they tell you you can't have power door locks or windows anymore

Re: Text Font Size

Blackberry has outsourced the hardware and will more than likely move to Android with some additional features. If they don't realize the users want the BB security and features it will flop.

Re: Text Font Size

432 million cell phones were sold in 2016. of that Blackberry sold 200k. Rather than outsourcing the hardware business they should outsource the executives including the CEO Chen.
When Chen took over his direction was always to drop hardware and move to a software company. Ignoring the market and competition like Apple and others caused the drop in sales and it looks like he finally won. Putting a few apps on cell phones wont keep Blackberry in business and unless by some miracle they develop a product only available on the outsourced blackberry phones and in todays world of hacking and viruses AND properly market it, it will be another flop.
